A police officer who forged a sick leave form to get two days extra off work has lost his job and is to be deported to his home country. Dubai Appeal Court upheld an earlier verdict against the Comoros Island national, aged 23. The court did, however, cancel the three-month jail term he was handed, meaning he will be deported immediately. Prosecutors said that on April 28, 2015, Dubai Police were checking employee sick leave forms when they discovered apparent fakes written by the officer. A 42-year-old Emirati policeman tasked with investigating corruption in the force said he came across the forgery. The investigating officer said: “He failed to come to work for two days on April 2015. He brought a sick leave form to explain his absence but it was fake and he had changed the date.” A forensics lab discovered that the accused had added days on to the original form. The accused also confessed to forging the documents using a doctor’s note from a clinic in Ras Al Khaimah. ali.shouk@7days.ae
