The Thai men, two aged 22 and one 23, were convicted of prostitution. Police discovered the men’s beauty salon was actually a brothel after a customer tried to attack one of the men with a cleaver. It was run by an Iraqi man, 44, who was jailed for five years. The Thai men were each sentenced to three years. All will be deported on their release. Officers were called to the property in the Muraqqabat area of Deira on April 27 following reports of a fight. The Emirati customer, 23, threatened one of the Thai men over an unspecified problem. He had intended to have sex with the 22-year-old, the court was told. An Emirati officer, 27, testified: “[The customer] told us he came to have sex with one of them and the place was a prostitution den. We arrested the Iraqi owner and discovered that the shop has five rooms where the defendants offered their sexual services.” Police said the men sold sex for Dhs100 a time.
