UAE man injured in a knife fight

This content was originally posted in 7DAYS UAE website at: UAE man injured in a knife fight Police have called on young men to be tolerant and patient rather than fighting on the streets with knives and swords. The appeal came after a man was badly injured in a knife fight in Fujairah over the weekend. Police said the Emirati, who is in his early 20s, was stabbed several times in the stomach and back by two men on Saturday evening in Dibba. A police spokesperson said the brawl happened after a dispute between the men. The spokesperson did not disclose details but said the victim was found in a pool of blood. They said an investigation is ongoing and that the two men will be referred to public prosecution on charges of physical assault. Police have pledged to crack down on what they say is a trend of knife and sword fighting in the emirate. Major Saeed Mohammed Al Hassani, Head of Media Relations and Moral Guidance at Fujairah Police, said: “Young men should be more tolerant to each other and they need to learn patience. They should settle their disputes with others amicably or resort to police for help.” Police said they have taken several measures over the past few years to control youth violence, including establishing community policing and visits to schools to address issues before they develop into trends. But they said they were particularly concerned by groups of young men attacking each other with knives and swords. “Youths should refrain from such violence that involves use of knives as is totally against the peaceful traditions of UAE society,” said Al Hassani. ismail@7days.ae Read the original story at: UAE man injured in a knife fight
