Maid caught at Dubai airport with employer’s Rolex

This content was originally posted in 7DAYS UAE website at: Maid caught at Dubai airport with employer’s Rolex A maid who stole a Dhs40,000 Rolex watch from her employer was arrested at Dubai International Airport as she tried to return to her home country. Dubai Court of First Instance was yesterday told that the Indonesian woman, 34, took the gold timepiece from the house of her employer, described as an Emirati manager, 46, in October. The theft went unnoticed until she was arrested by customs with the watch in her bag on November 6. Her employer, who drove her to the terminal after her last day of work, testified: “I drove her to the airport at around 5pm, finalised all her paper work and then went back home.” Customs officers spotted the valuable watch in the woman’s bag and asked her about it, after which she confessed. Her employer said: “Around 7pm I received a call from airport police who told me that they found my wife’s Rolex gold watch with the maid. “They asked me to go to Bur Dubai police station and open a report against her, so I did.” The maid told prosecutors she hid the watch in one of the children’s rooms and retrieved it before she left. Yesterday, she confessed to the theft, which could result in a jail term of between six months and three years or a fine. She will be sentenced on December 30. wafa.issa@7days.ae Read the original story at: Maid caught at Dubai airport with employer’s Rolex
