Dubai Court of First Instance was told that two Yemenis aged 25 and 23, saw four Pakistani men beat up an Indian man, 42, and snatch his bag containing Dhs501,000. They then ran down the street in an attempt to get away. Prosecutors said the two brothers ran after the gang after hearing the victim screaming for help in the middle of the day. They caught one of the four men and keep him until police arrived. “I was with my brother near the Yemeni embassy, in Rafaa, when we heard someone yelling for help. I saw three men beat a man and take a black bag from him,” said the older brother in court records. “Immediately we chased the one who was carrying the bag, knocked him on the ground and controlled him.” Dubai Police arrived and arrested the suspect before catching the others at a later stage. Prosecutors said the defendants were monitoring the victim, who works for a private company, as he went to a local bank to withdraw the money. He testified: “It was daylight when I went to my bike in the parking area and four men surrounded me. One of them sprayed pepper on my face and the others tried to take the bag. I wanted to resist but the pepper burned my eyes and nose.” In court, on Wednesday, all four defendants confessed to attempted robbery charges. A sentence is expected later this month. Judge Erfan Omar ordered the defendants to remain in custody. ali.shouk@7days.ae Read the original story at: Brothers in Dubai chase robber who stole Dhs500,000
