Temperatures are expected to remain cool this week but forecasters said they do not expect a repeat of the heavy rain that lashed much of the country on Monday. Dubai Police recorded some 515 accidents between 6am and midday alone on Monday. Abu Dhabi and other emirates also saw rain throughout the day. Colonel Khazraj Al Khazraji, deputy director of the control room, said: “The accidents were mainly minor, and nobody was killed.” He added: “Driving in rainy weather or during fog can be dangerous, especially if drivers are speeding or driving recklessly. Make sure your windows are clean and leave enough distance between vehicles. Only use the hazard lights for emergency situations. Take your time.” RELATED: How to drive safe in heavy rain A National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology spokesman said the weather had changed drastically since Saturday, until which time temperatures had been rising. “But due to clouds coming over from the west along with low pressure, we are experiencing the sudden drop in temperature,” he said. “From Monday onwards, the clouds will become less, temperatures will remain around the same but there will be lesser rainfall.” Dubai and Abu Dhabi will see highs of 21C-22C and lows of 15C in the coming days. In Sharjah, residents reported being stuck in traffic for hours on their commute to Dubai. Ali Abdul Wahab, a 37-year-old Egyptian, said: “It took two hours to reach my work in Bur Dubai – it usually takes me one hour. “All the junctions in Al Taawen and Al Khan area were flooded.” ali.shouk@7days.ae
