A friend of mine was flying home to Prague from Dubai last week. She had a balance scooter also known as a balance board in her checked in luggage. We contacted the airline to ask about the policy in regard to them allowing the shipment of the balance board and through an exchange of emails they said it was perfectly acceptable to them… the airline is Czech owned I should add. To get to the main point of the story the police and others asked the friend to come and identify the checked in luggage and open and remove the balance scooter as she sat on the plane ready for take off! The friend gave the police contact details of people living in Dubai to come and collect the balance scooter but this is where the authorities have it all wrong. Nobody attempted to contact someone for collection and nobody at the airport can give any light to what has happened to the item after many hours at the airport. What I want to know is how many times does this happen and what is the protocol because speaking to the local authorities like I have over the last few days is like being back in the dark ages… this is not how a modern society should be run. GH, Dubai
