Two workers were airlifted to hospital after being seriously injured by an explosion at a warehouse in Al Quoz, Dubai. Two other people also suffered less severe injuries when the gas cylinder went up on Monday. General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigations, said the warehouse in Al Quoz Industrial Area 12 was used to store air con units and construction tools. “We received the call at noon on Monday about an explosion at a warehouse. The tank on the warehouse’s roof collapsed on the four workers who were inside. Two were seriously injured and air lifted to Rashid Hospital while other two sustained moderate injuries,” said Al Mansouri. Dubai Police posted a video of the air wing in action on social media. Police patrols controlled the traffic in the area and provided space for police helicopter to land. Fire experts and forensic investigators are trying to establish the cause of the explosion. “For sure something wrong happened in the warehouse, but it’s better to wait for the final answer on what caused the fire,” Al Mansorui added. The owner and supervisors of the warehouse are being questioned in relation to the incident, the police said.
