Well thanks very much Chelsea. Just one day after I declared the ‘Special One’ was unsackable, the Blues showed Jose Mourinho the door. Despite this fact I am going to make another bold prediction. Pep Guardiola will take charge of Chelsea next season. Yes, there is plenty of talk that the serial winner will be taking over at Manchester City, but I have a gut feeling that he has already been sounded out for the Chelsea job. Believe me, it happens in football all the time. Deals are done long before official announcements and I honestly believe he has been sold on the club and the city. That definitely comes into consideration and nothing against Manchester; I just see Guardiola and his family more at home in London. And given his rivalry with Mourinho, you can imagine how much he would enjoy winning a host of trophies straight after Jose was given the boot for a disastrous campaign. It also makes sense for Pep to go to Chelsea as this is a club who has spent millions of their youth academy. And they have flourished, despite Mourinho rarely giving young players a chance. Last season Chelsea won the Youth Champions League and defeated Man City to win the FA Youth Cup. The structure is in place, Guardiola will have the funds and he’ll have no problems attracting the top players. So what next for Jose? It’s time for another prediction. Jose Mourinho will take over at Manchester United in the summer. This one I believe is a certainty, though the time frame may adjust if United struggle over the festive period and Louis van Gaal is sacked. Mourinho will not be short of offers from all around the globe, but he has suggested he wants another job in England and there are few clubs bigger than United. Van Gaal is losing the supporters fast but their league position isn’t awful and he could easily end up leading the side to a top-four finish. But with Mourinho out of work, he will be impossible to ignore. Alex Ferguson was always a fan of Mourinho and I’m sure he would approve of his appointment at Old Trafford. And with Jose at United and Pep at Chelsea – we could have plenty of fireworks next season. I wouldn’t like to predict who would come out on top in that battle, but it will make for thrilling viewing for fans. With the best coaches come the best players Don’t be surprised if next summer we see a host of world-class footballers moving to England. In recent seasons Premier League clubs have lost the most prized players to Barcelona and Real Madrid. But with the possibility of Jose and Pep joining Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klopp in England, the best players in the world may make the move. Don’t be surprised if Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale return in 2016.
