Dear Anon (‘Why bring dogs here when they have nowhere to walk’ – Letter Dec 29), as a dog owner myself I wanted to put you straight on a few points. I am neither careless or selfish. I brought my dogs with me when I came here from the UK six years ago. Having lived in Dubai once before, again with my dog, I knew what to expect. I was not prepared to leave my pets whom I have had since puppies behind. Our dogs have travelled everywhere with us, including back from Australia. They are part of my family and are treated as such. Maybe you did not notice the article about the dog beach campaign we have been trying to get somewhere to take our pets for quite a long time. I am very fortunate that I live in an area were I can take my dogs out twice a day and live in a villa with a garden suitable for my dogs, I suggest if you want to have a rant about dogs again you should visit the pet stores who import all kinds of dogs, breeds that are not suitable for this climate, and maybe you should also target people who buy dogs and then throw them out in the street. I myself have rescued three up to now. Our pets are here to stay for as long as we do. Dog owner, Dubai
