A year and half on from the current oil price crash and it’s unbelievable that airlines are still not prepared to pass on these savings to their customers. The price of a flight back to Scotland from Dubai is now even more expensive than when the oil price was over a 100 dollars. I recently priced a flight back for the end of January, not exactly a prime time, and the price is almost 1000 pounds sterling from Dubai. It’s easy to see how certain Middle East carriers can post profit increases of 43 per cent! I know a lot of people in the UAE get their flights paid for by their company but there are also a lot of us who don’t. It’s even more obvious when you book the same flight in reverse i.e. Scotland to Dubai. If you book exactly the same dates and times you find it’s 1/3 of the price! When you compare across carriers you find very little difference, surely the government needs to investigate the lack of competition in pricing. Frustrated frequent flyer, Dubai
