Registration for the 24th Salomon Wadi Bih Run in the Musandam peninsula has been extended until January 20, 2016. The event takes place in Dibba with all solo races on Friday, February 5 where runners can choose the 72km, 50km or 30km route. Relay teams can choose to run a 50km course on February 5 or the original 72km route on Saturday, February 6. All runners will need to upload their passport copies online when registering so that they are able to cross the UAE-Oman border in Dibba. UAE residents must also upload a copy of their residence visa. Teams are advised to register additional runners in advance, just in case original team members cannot make the race, as changes will not be permitted after January 20. Race director Neil Young said: “The Wadi Bih Run is the oldest and most exciting trail run in the region, dating back to 1993 when just 16 teams completed the spectacular course through the dramatic winding Wadi Bih canyon. “With more than 1,000m of ascent, it is a great physical challenge and a refreshing chance to escape from the city and into the mountains.” How the event works Both relays are for teams of five, with two female runners mandatory, on routes marked into stages ranging from 1.5km to 4.2km in distance. Individual runners must take turns to run each stage while their support vehicle transports the other team members along the course, except for the first and last stage where four members of the team are required to run together. All categories will start and finish at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Dibba, providing runners with the option to stay the night at the hotel or camp on the beach nearby. A race village at the hotel will provide food and a number of entertainment options for the whole family throughout both days. How to register Runners can register at premieronline.com. Registration will close on January 20, 2016 or when the maximum number of entrants has been reached. All entrants are required to register passports and visas (for residents) online in advance for border crossing.
