The complaints about the driving, bad customer service, landlord issues… they were all starting to get me down. This long weekend has given me the wake-up call I needed. Thank you Dubai; thank you Sheikh Mohammed and to all the team that have put together the National Day and Martyrs’ Day ceremonies over the long weekend. Thank you to the men and women who fight to keep our country safe and our neighbouring states free of terror. Thank you to their families who have sacrificed so much. Waking up to the sight of 44 balloons flying overhead is truly a breathtaking experience. The excitement of watching the Al Fursan Aerobatic team as the sun sets over the Gulf never ceases to amaze me. None of it gets stale. I could watch it every day with the same awe. Thank you for another year in this incredible place and the reminder that we are all humans and have the same reactions regardless of race, colour or creed.
