The Gillette Stadium is best known as the home of NFL Super Bowl champions the New England Patriots, but the facility underwent a major transformation to host the annual NHL Winter Classic ice hockey clash. Boston Bruins took on the Montreal Canadiens in front of 67,000 fans and it was the visiting team from Quebec who went away with a 5-1 win. Boston native Mike Condon stopped 27 shots to lead the Canadiens to victory at Gillette Stadium where his policeman father works as security during Patriots games. Condon wore a mask decorated with a Patriots theme and autographed by their coach Bill Belichick and star quarterback Tom Brady, and helped the Canadiens pass Florida Panthers for first place in the Atlantic Division. “I’m pretty sure anything Tom Brady touches turns to gold,” said Boston-bred goaltender Condon. “Hopefully got some mojo on my helmet there. I’m a huge fan of his, huge fan of this organisation, and I’m just happy to pay respect to them on the ice.”
