A man has admitted using his mobile phone to film up women’s skirts at a supermarket. Dubai Court of First Instance was told the 26-year-old Indian salesman recorded women inside Carrefour at Mall of the Emirates. Prosecutors said that a security worker saw the suspect on a surveillance camera as he placed his phone under the skirt of a woman in the clothing section. The incident took place on June 8. The American employee said he saw the man approaching the woman as she looked at shoes. He testified: “He stood behind her and placed his phone between her legs and managed to record under her skirt. He repeated that several times.” The employee went down to the aisle, pulled the man into the security office and showed him the footage. The man apologised and begged the guard not to call police, he testified, but he was arrested. A police officer told the court: “He confessed and said that he was sorry. When I checked his mobile phone, I found many video clips showing women’s underwear.” The accused confessed to the charge of sexual assault. A verdict is expected in February. ali.shouk@7days.ae
