Presiding Judge Mohammad Al Jarah Al Tunaiji, at the State Security Court in Abu Dhabi, sentenced the 19-year-old defendant, whose initials were given as KSA, in absentia for joining ISIS by travelling to Syria, where he has participated in the extremist group’s activities. Two other defendants, FMA, 24, and MAM, 22, were sentenced to seven years for planning to join ISIS with the help of KSA, according to national news agency WAM. The court heard they had their passports and tickets ready for travel and MAM had already departed for Turkey, where he planned to cross the border into Syria to join up with the extremists. A fourth defendant, AAS, 22, also Emirati, was sentenced to three years. He was on trial as a co-conspirator as it is claimed he assisted KSA by dropping him off at Dubai International Airport. He also helped the remaining defendants join ISIS by helping them get to the airport to head to Syria. The defendants denied the charges in court at a hearing last year. ali.shouk@7days.ae Read the original story at: UAE teenager sentenced to death for joining ISIS in Syria
