World No. 1 Serena Williams will lead an all-star line-up at this year’s Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships which takes place from February 15-27. The American dominated last season as she won the first three grand slams of the year to take her total to 21, just one behind Steffi Graf and three behind Margaret Court’s all-time record. However, victory in Dubai will not be easy for Williams thanks to a strong field which includes rising star Garbiñe Muguruza and former champion Agnieszka Radwanska. Lucie Safarova, Angelique Kerber and former world No. 1’s Ana Ivanovic and Caroline Wozniacki are also heading to Dubai. The entry list for the men’s tournament will be finalised in the coming days but reigning champion Roger Federer and world No. 1 Novak Djokovic are expected to return to Dubai. “We are delighted to be welcoming the world’s best players back to Dubai,” said Colm McLoughlin, executive vice chairman of tournament organisers Dubai Duty Free. “This year is shaping up to be another hotly contested tournament and we are looking forward to another great fortnight of superb tennis action.” Tournament director, Salah Tahlak added: “This tournament is eagerly awaited by players and fans alike and the line-up this year is fantastic. “We look forward to welcoming spectators for this year’s event and enjoying another thrilling tournament.” Staged at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium in Garhoud, the action will commence on 15 February with the WTA event, followed on 22 February with the ATP tournament offering a total prize money of $4.5 million. Tickets for the event will go on sale on 18 January from the Box Office at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium, which is open from 9am to 9pm daily and online at www.dubaidutyfreetennischampionships.com/en/tickets
