Over the 14 years that I have lived in Dubai OSN has come a long way in its service and offering. OSN is not a cheap television service, and I have no issue with paying for quality, however I cannot understand why certain channels that are available in 16:9 format and HD are not provided as such. For example, CNN and BBC are both available in HD – why do we not receive it in HD via OSN. I was in Thailand recently and CNN is available there in HD and BBC News is available in HD via Etisalat? TEN cricket is only available in SD and very poor SD quality and only in 4:3 format? HD in 16:9 format is available from TEN SPORTS! Come on OSN step up your game or provide a reasonable answer please? Frustrated OSN subscriber, Dubai OSN RESPONSE: Thank you for your letter. At OSN, we continue to invest to grow both the quality and quantity of our HD channels. We share your frustration that the channels you mention are not made available in this region in HD. As OSN does not control any of the channels listed, we have to rely on the channel providers as to whether they are delivered to us in HD or SD. As our subscribers are aware, for channels owned and operated by OSN, including all the OSN Movie services and OSN Sports Cricket HD, transmission in High Definition is our priority. As soon as the external channel providers make their services available in HD in the region, OSN will deliver them immediately to our viewers. We are also introducing several new channels in 2016 in HD that will bring more exclusive content for our subscribers so you always see it first. Details will be announced very soon.
