This content was originally posted in 7DAYS UAE website at: Dubai stalker sues victim for hitting him with her shoe A man convicted of harassing a woman in a shopping mall is suing her for hitting him in the face with her shoe. The Emirati, who is in his 20s, stalked the Arab woman while she was shopping with her five-year-old son last year, following her in and out of various shops. He continued to stalk the shopper even after she told him to leave her alone. At one point, he also tried to get her to take down his mobile number. The woman eventually got so fed up with the harassment that she began shouting at the man then took off her shoe and hit him in the face with it. Both the stalker and the woman ended up in court for their troubles. The Emirati was fined for Dhs1,000 for harassment and the woman was fined the same amount for assault. She was also fined Dhs1,000 for neglecting her son, who fled and hid in the mall while the incident took place. However, the convicted stalker has now launched a civil case against the woman, saying he suffered physical and psychological damages when the woman insulted him and attacked him in public. The Arab woman claims she was defending her dignity when she attacked him. During the original trial, prosecutors said the woman shouted at the man and insulted him in front of a number of other visitors to the mall. “She removed her shoe and hit the man in the face and other parts, causing bruises,” a police officer said. Mall security guards tried to calm the woman down but she kept shouting at the man. Eventually, a female guard managed to stop her from hitting the stalker any more. He claims the woman attacked and insulted him in front of his friends, which has damaged his reputation and affected him psychologically. A verdict has yet to be issued in the civil case. ismail@7days.ae   Read the original story at: Dubai stalker sues victim for hitting him with her shoe
