DUPLAYS has launched its new season of public sport leagues for UAE residents, with more options than ever before to get fit, active and social in 2016. The Dubai-based sports company has 30 sport leagues starting in January which are open to all, with new concepts including beginner’s beach volleyball, ‘Super Social’ netball, industry sport leagues for companies in finance, hospitality, and healthcare, and the long-awaited return of the ‘Happy Gilmore’ Par-3 Golf League at Emirates Golf Club, all being added to the usual variety of sports on offer. With most leagues kicking off around the second week of January and running for eight weeks into March, the timing is perfect to get back into sport and kickstart a fit and healthy lifestyle. Gareth Curtis, operations manager of the DUPLAYS leagues, said: “January is always a popular time for us, as residents return to the UAE from their holidays and look to get active again socially as well as physically. Playing team sports with other people is a far more enticing prospect than pounding the treadmill in busy gyms it’s less intimidating, less costly, and so much more fun and social. “The weather between January and March is ideal for playing sports and now we have more options than ever for people to get involved whether they wish to play competitively or learn a new sport in a social and recreational environment”. DUPLAYS has been running social sport leagues in the UAE since 2007 and now has more than 6,000 residents playing sports in their leagues every week in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with leagues in netball, basketball, football, touch rugby, beach volleyball and ultimate frisbee. Leagues are played from 7pm-10pm on Sunday to Wednesday evenings at a variety of locations. Registration is now open on all leagues and 10 per cent discounts are available to those who sign up before December 21, 2016.
