Having read a number of recent letters about JLT parking I feel compelled to add to the discussion. I live in JLT with my family, lovely apartment and nice community. Up until recently I was fortunate to avail of one free parking bay in an adjacent cluster for over two years, now the barriers are activated again. Luckily I have managed to find a cost-free solution but I asked a few questions! I am told that the barriers are activated because an oil company has decided to buy up a huge number of parking spots but strangely the car park section remains largely vacant. So the highest bidder wins and everyone else suffers. When will community operators treat their residents with some respect. It is the office workers and residents who make JLT what it is and keep the businesses running. The FM people working in JLT advise that the car parks are generally no more than 60 per cent occupied day and night and I wold say it is less than that in my cluster. Additional parking spots cost up to Dhs8,000 per year, which is a lot of cash. There is a solution to the JLT parking problem if the operators would just wake up and sort it out. JLT resident, Dubai
