Dubai Police have arrested six men suspected of robbing a money exchange office in Dubai using a taser gun, fake pistol and teargas. General Khamis Mattar Al Muzaina, director of Dubai Police, said that the gang were from Eastern Europe and were professional criminals. He said the men wore black masks and threatened the employees and customers. The robbers struck Al Razouki international exchange in Karama at 4.30pm on Sunday and stole Dhs700,000. “They used teargas and four of them raided the shop threatening everyone with pistol, which was fake. Within three minutes they left in a car and then set fire to it nearby to erase the evidence,” Al Muzaina said. Dubai Police found the black BMW six blocks away from the exchange. It was carrying a stolen plate number and had been bought from the Al Awir area using fake documents. General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigations, said that officers arrested one suspect within 24 hours while he was trying to leave the country through Dubai International Airport. “He refused to confess but we managed to find out the locations of the other members who were in different cities in UAE. We arrested them and recovered the money, ” Al Mansouri said. The six suspects have been transferred to Dubai Public Prosecution to finish the investigation. “They were planning to leave the country individually but Dubai Police always get in the way of the evil plans of robbers,” he said. ali.shouk@7days.ae
