Tips on setting the Christmas table

This content was originally posted in 7DAYS UAE website at: Tips on setting the Christmas table We gift wrap the presents, dress up in our finery for Christmas Day and give the food a lot of attention – but often the dining table gets left to the last minute. But the good news is that it only takes a little imagination and a few decorative touches to make it a stunning focal point for the celebrations. “My message is have fun with the table, rather than regarding it as the final chore of the preparations,” says designer Clare Harris. “Creating a table with ‘wow’ factor sets the tone for the entire celebration and its look should let your guests and family feel that the occasion’s fun, rather than formal or too fussy. You’re aiming for an effect that helps people relax instantly and something that’s so lovely they’ll want to linger.” Rafael Gotgotao, visual merchandiser at La Maison Verte in Dubai, agrees. “With just a few touches of accessories in winter and Christmas colours of red and gold you can turn your dining area into a beautiful place to invite family and friends. “Crockery with a Christmas design, some candles in the colours of this month and some artistic place mats will transform your table.” And there’s no need to spend a fortune. Instead, use accessories you already have, together with a few new, surprise touches. Get your children, family or guests involved in the table decoration on Christmas morning – provide some glittery pens and they can all write place labels for example. Coloured crackers, a scattering of table gems and tying napkins with pretty ribbon may be all it takes to add to the atmosphere and make the table a feast for the eye.   Read the original story at: Tips on setting the Christmas table
