The Court of First Instance was told that the Emirati, aged 33, climbed over the wall of the next door villa in Al Barsha on September 4. He then allegedly went inside the house and attacked the 44-year-old Emirati woman. “It was about four in the morning when I felt that someone was on top of me,” said the woman. “The room was not lit properly so I could not see who was in the room but he immediately put his hand on my mouth to prevent me from shouting and started talking to me in English.” The woman told prosecutors that she tried to get out of bed but her neighbour ran after her and pushed her on to the floor. “I told him that I was willing to give him whatever he wanted to avoid any harm from him,” she said. The man then reportedly dragged her back to bed and started kissing her and stripping off her clothes. She said she was initially submissive because she was scared but when the neighbour tried to have an intercourse with her, she pushed him away. “At that moment I told him that I needed to go to the bathroom and after I went out and was able to identify him. I convinced him that I would meet him on an another occasion to satisfy his desires,” she said. The woman claims she convinced the neighbour to give her his number then called the police as soon as he left the villa. The neighbour told prosecutors that there had been problems over the building of unlicensed extensions to his villa and that he had gone to her house that day to scare her. “I touched her breasts and took off her underwear but I did not do anything else, then left the house after she convinced me that she will have sex with me on another occasion,” he allegedly said. The man has been charged with attempted rape and trespassing. However, at court he denied both charges.
