This content was originally posted in 7DAYS UAE website at: 3D competition challenges GCC kids to innovate Students from across the GCC are preparing to take part in the region’s first 3D printing competition aimed at targeting young talent from schools and universities. The Gulf 3D Printing Olympiad, inspired by UAE Innovation Week, challenges students to design and 3D print a consumer product, preferably something that can help people in their everyday lives. The contest is the brainchild of ATLAB, a technology-based learning solutions company. S Senthil Kugan, the firm’s general manager, said 3D printing is a powerful tool and is getting more affordable. “Today it is possible for children to design a product and 3D print it,” he said. “In the next few years, the affordability factor will further enhance the process of innovation.” The contest is open to all school and university students in the UAE aged between 10 and 25. Participants will be judged on areas such as creativity, precision, originality, inventiveness, execution as well as the quality of the presentation. Students can register for free on gulf3Dprinting.com. Entries should be submitted by March 30, 2016. business@7days.ae Read the original story at: 3D competition challenges GCC kids to innovate
