Trio locked up for brazen safe heist in UAE

This content was originally posted in 7DAYS UAE website at: Trio locked up for brazen safe heist in UAE Three men have each been given a year in prison after they were found guilty of stealing a safe containing Dhs245,000 from a transport company. Official documents showed that the men took the safe from the office of the firm in the Musaffah Industrial area and stole the cash after breaking the safe open. Prosecutors told Abu Dhabi Criminal Court that company workers informed bosses that the safe in the office had disappeared. The company told police the brazen bandits snuck in and stole the safe without being noticed by employees in other offices. Officers said the safe contained Dhs245,000 and 14 workers’ passports, company account notebooks, eight identity cards, and eight health insurance cards. Police tracked down the vehicle used by the thieves after identifying it through footage on CCTV cameras at the office and arrested the owner, who told cops the vehicle was being used by his cousin at the time. The suspect admitted carrying out the theft on October 5 with two other Pakistani men. He guided police to his accomplices, who were also arrested. The men told the court that they entered the office, carried the safe on to their vehicle and drove to a remote area, where they broke it open with a sharp tool. The main defendant in the case told the court he then transferred the stolen cash to a Pakistani friend through an exchange office in Al Ain. His cousin, the fourth defendant in the case and owner of the car, was cleared of the charge of helping the thieves commit the crime by providing them with transport. The trio will be deported after serving their sentences. ismail@7days.ae Read the original story at: Trio locked up for brazen safe heist in UAE
