Visitor to Dubai says Nol card keeps them off the buses

This content was originally posted in 7DAYS UAE website at: Visitor to Dubai says Nol card keeps them off the buses I read Alan’s letter in 7Days and I agree wholeheartedly about the buses. I don’t live in Dubai but have been visiting my sister in Umm Suqeim every year for the past 11 years. My husband and I used to love the flexibility that using the buses allowed us; we could pop down to Bur Dubai for a wander around the market and shops, pop across to the spice souk on an adbra etc etc. We haven’t been able to do this for the past two years as we’re told that we can’t use cash to travel and have no idea where to buy whatever ticket is needed; we tried the Metro last year. We now have to rely on lifts from the family or cabs – which all add to the terrible traffic problem. I also miss the wonderful array of interesting people that we used to meet and chat to whilst travelling; especially the day we too waited for a bus that didn’t arrive. I love visiting Dubai and maybe next time I’ll find out about that card. I’ve used the metro but it would be great if you could buy a visitor pass for 1 day or 1 week with unlimited travel so that you could hop on and off to explore this fabulous city.
