Al Noor Island in Sharjah is a treasure trove of exotic trees, prehistoric rocks and a Butterfly House. Inaugurated last month, the small island in Khalid Lagoon is connected to Buhairah Corniche by a footbridge near Al Noor mosque and has wooden walkways for visitors. The centre-piece of Al Noor Island is a Butterfly House that features 500 exotic East Asian butterflies. The trees include a 250-year-old olive tree from Spain. There are also 300 million-year-old crystal rocks and art sculptures installed at various points. There is also a play area for children, a Literate Pavilion, cafeteria and rest rooms.
