A huge fire has broken out in one of the Dubai’s top five-star hotels. Videos on social media and eyewitness reports showed flames rapidly spreading through the Address Downtown Hotel. The blaze appeared to have started on the lower floors and quickly spread across the through the building. The flames have reached 40 storeys of the 63 storied hotel. AN official confirmed that the fire started at the 20th story of the hotel. Ali Al Mutawa from Civil Defence said: “We have controlled 65% of the fire in the hotel and no casualties have been seen so far after evacuating the hotel.” The emergency services have reached the scene and the hotel is being evacuated. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Makhtoum has posted a video on his Instagram account saying: “Don’t worry. This is a minor fire caused by an electric shortage.” Col. Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of Dubai Police said, “there are no casualties yet and the hotel has been evacuated.” A Civil Defence spokesperson said that four teams are battling the flames, and they almost have it under control.
