Started in 2010, the challenge now attracts cycling enthusiasts from all over the world for the 92km ride around the roads of Dubai. Jacob Tipper was the fastest male finisher, taking just 2.13.32 to cover the distance and Aimee Wright was the fastest female finisher with a time of 2.37.26. Talking to organisers in the cycle village, Tipper said: ‘The course was great, and my team has helped me secure this fantastic result. As a keen cyclist I hope to take part in the event again next year.” In addition to this year’s cycling weekend, the 53km Corporate Challenge saw Abdulaziz Al Rashee achieving the fastest male (1.28.01) and Amber Harding the fastest female (1.28.22). A spokesperson for the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge said: “It’s great to see so many cyclists out here, from those that ride on a weekly or daily basis to those that just want to enjoy the sport. “We have been following everyone’s journey with the four Build-Up rides in preparation for the big 92km challenge and we are delighted to see that we are attracting more and more people to the sport each year with the growth in numbers.” Colette Shannon, Spinney’s communications manager, added: “It is great to be involved in such a large community event. Through supporting such events we encourage our customers and staff to get active.” In addition the cycling weekend, two Junior Challenges were held for under-16 riders with more than 150 kids participating in the 15km ride and the 30km ride.
