Sick crime as pickpocket vomits on victim at ATM in Abu Dhabi

This content was originally posted in 7DAYS UAE website at: Sick crime as pickpocket vomits on victim at ATM in Abu Dhabi A thief vomited over a man at a cashpoint then stole Dhs10,000 from his pocket as he pretended to clean up the mess, Abu Dhabi Police said. The Asian man had waited for the victim to withdraw the money from an ATM machine  in the capital. “The man then walked near the bank customer and intentionally vomited on his clothes,” said Colonel Ahmed Saif bin Zaitouni Al Muhairi, head of Metropolitan Police. “And in a pretext of being sorry for his action, the man apologised to the victim and helped him in cleaning the spew from his shirt.” When the man had finished cleaning himself up, he checked his pocket and realised the money was gone. “The thief had snatched Dhs10,000,” said Al Muhairi. “The victim tried to look for the culprit but the man had already fled the scene.” Police said the victim filed a complaint with Al Shabia Police Station. Acting on the description he gave to cops, the station formed a team to investigate and eventually arrested an Asian suspect. They said the man admitted to carrying out the robbery when questioned. Police did not say how the man had made himself sick. Al Muhairi warned the public that this is one of the new tricks used by thieves to target bank customers. Police said that among other scams, robbers were tricking bank customers into believing that their cars had problems, such as an oil leak or a flat tyre, prompting the driver to get out of their vehicle to examine the damage. This gives the thieves a window of opportunity to seize cash from inside the vehicle and run off. ismail@7days.ae Read the original story at: Sick crime as pickpocket vomits on victim at ATM in Abu Dhabi
