This content was originally posted in 7DAYS UAE website at: Thirty UAE labourers injured in bus crash Thirty construction workers were injured, three of them severely, after a truck crashed into their bus as they returned from work late on Monday. Ras Al Khaimah Police said the crash occurred at 10.30pm on Kedra Road, 75km south of Ras Al Khaimah city as the Asian men were driven back to their accommodation camp. Some suffered broken legs and hands and were transported to various hospitals. No deaths were reported by police. Five of the injured men were taken to Saqr hospital in RAK, ten to Al Dhaid hospital in Sharjah and 15 were airlifted to various hospitals in Fujairah and Dubai, police said. Dubai Police’s air ambulance was also sent to help with the rescue efforts. Col Ali Saeed Al Alkeem, director of the RAK traffic and patrols department, said the truck driver was trying to join the main road when he turned and collided with the middle section of the bus. “The truck driver was inattentive and should have waited for the oncoming traffic [to pass] before he joined the road,” said Al Alkeem. “The collision caused the bus to lose control and overturned as a result of the impact.” The truck driver was detained as police make further investigations. A source at Saqr Hospital told 7DAYS this morning that the workers admitted there are in stable condition. Police have urged drivers to be exercise caution while behind the wheels, avoid excessive speeding and to strictly abide by traffic laws. ismail@7days.ae Read the original story at: Thirty UAE labourers injured in bus crash
