Prosecutors said the British resident had been drinking vodka during a stay at Atlantis, where the victim worked. The court heard he approached the victim and kissed her before wandering off. The 35-year-old project manager is on trial accused of sexual assault and drinking without a licence. He admitted drinking but denied the assault in court. Dubai Court of First Instance Judge Erfan Omar Atia heard that the man’s friends told him to apologise to the woman, but instead he tossed her Dhs200. The incident took place on November 27. The Kenyan receptionist, 26, testified: “I was on the front desk when he came and took me by surprise. He held my face with his hands and kissed my lips and then left.” She said his friends brought him back but he failed to say sorry. She said: “He didn’t apologise and instead gave me Dhs200 from his wallet. I refused to take the money and informed the hotel’s security guards.” The guards controlled the man and called Dubai Police, who arrested him. Prosecutors said during questioning that he confessed to kissing the woman and could not remember what had happened, though in court he changed him plea. He asked for a delay to allow him to hire a lawyer. Judge Atia adjourned the case until next month and the man was released on bail. ali.shouk@7days.ae Read the original story at: Dubai resident ‘kissed woman’ in five-star hotel
